Medicare

Medicare has a lot of moving parts. We help you understand your options — Medicare Advantage, Supplement (Medigap), and Part D — so you can choose with confidence.

Medicare can be confusing. Between Parts A, B, C, and D — plus the alphabet soup of Medigap plans — most people aren't sure what they actually have or what they might be missing. We work with Medicare-eligible clients to compare options from Humana, United Healthcare, and other carriers and find a plan that fits their doctors, prescriptions, and budget. Our Medicare consultations are always at no cost to you.

What's covered

Medicare Advantage (Part C)

All-in-one plans that replace Original Medicare and typically include prescription drug coverage and extra benefits like dental, vision, and hearing.

Medicare Supplement (Medigap)

Fills the gaps in Original Medicare — covering copays, coinsurance, and deductibles. Works alongside Parts A and B, not in place of them.

Part D — Prescription Drug Plans

Standalone drug coverage to pair with Original Medicare or a Medigap plan. Plans vary significantly in which drugs they cover and at what cost.

Dental, Vision & Hearing

Original Medicare doesn't cover most dental, vision, or hearing. Many Medicare Advantage plans include these benefits. Standalone plans are also available.

Annual Enrollment Review

Plans change every year — benefits, premiums, and drug formularies can all shift. We review your plan annually during the open enrollment window.

Things to keep in mind

  • 1

Your Initial Enrollment Period for Medicare starts 3 months before your 65th birthday and ends 3 months after. Missing it can result in permanent premium penalties.

  • 2

Medicare Advantage plans can look attractive because of $0 premiums, but the tradeoff is often a network restriction and higher out-of-pocket maximums. Make sure your doctors are in-network.

  • 3

Medigap (Supplement) plans are standardized — Plan G from Humana covers the same things as Plan G from United Healthcare. The difference is price. We shop them all.

  • 4

If you're still working at 65 and covered by an employer plan, you may be able to delay Medicare without penalty. We can help you understand how the two interact.

Common questions

What's the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medigap?

Medicare Advantage replaces Original Medicare — you get your coverage through the private plan. Medigap supplements Original Medicare, filling in the cost-sharing gaps. They can't be used together. The right choice depends on your health needs, preferred doctors, and budget.

When can I change my Medicare plan?

The main window is the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), October 15 through December 7. Changes take effect January 1. There are also Special Enrollment Periods for certain life events.

Is there a cost for your Medicare help?

No. We're compensated by the insurance carrier, not by you. There's no cost to work with us and no obligation to enroll.
